I typically try to avoid restaurants that advertise as fusion restaurants, "Mexican and American food" in this case, but Clio's had great reviews on Yelp, so I had to try it out since I was in the area one day for lunch.  The first thing you will notice is the shopping center is long gone and dead.  I remember when it was booming, of course that was about 20 yrs ago.

Once inside, I took a quick look at the menu and noticed their prices are fairly high for the area.
They have their items in order from most expensive to least in each section on the menu.  I decided to order the Clio burger since people were raving about their burgers.

The salsa was served warm and had a whole stewed jalapeño floating in it...how interesting! The chips were very large and obviously homemade.  This was a nice start to the meal.  I added a watermelon agua fresca, which was huge, tasty and obviously had a ton of sugar added to it, but no big deal.

As far as the burger, I certainly wouldn't place it in the same category as some of Houston's best burgers as one other reviewer stated, but it was tasty.  I believe the smashed patty was machine-formed at some point, and may not even be fresh beef.  The bun was similar to Hippo Burger in Humble, but didn't fall apart like theirs does.  Either way, the bun was my least favorite part.  The burger is served with mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion, American cheese and avocado.  I subbed for Cheddar.  They do give you a lot of avocado!  The lettuce I received on my burger was actually two varieties, green leaf AND iceberg, which was very strange.   Either way, too much lettuce so I had to remove some.  Maybe they put on a lot of lettuce to help make up for the fact that the bun to beef ratio is very high on this burger due to the thin patty.

The french fries are your regular steak fry variety, nothing really special there.

Service was friendly all throughout my experience and you pay at the register at the end.  Overall, a $17+ lunch after tax and tip, not worth it imo.  Will I be taking any out of town guests here to try their not so awesome burger, doubt it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this quick fix on my way back to town. Went in on a whim as I had a few things to do near the dealerships. The high reviews was the deciding factor in making the trip and I was not dissatisfied with my selection.

I wanted something quick and easy to eat in the car so I grabbed a beef fajita torta to go. It was made fresh to order including a side of ships and salsa. I got the sandwich fully dressed which included a decent cut of diced fajita mixed with crema, Avocado, lettuce, tomato and mayo. The bread had a nice toast to it and they split it in half to make it easier to consume on the go. The chips were salted well and the salsa is made in house. The salsa came out warm and delicious with a good hit of spice.

It was a little more than I would normally want to pay for a torts. It was nine dollars in place of the usual 5-6$ but I did like the attention to detail they showed while preparing the sandwich that not everyone would. They also offer several other typical Mexican dishes including enchiladas, tacos and various other plates.

The menu selection is small but it seems like they have a mastery over the items offered. If I happen to be on that end of town I would likely stop in again.
